As usual, it was a beautiful day in Sedona, Arizona, to ride a lollipop consisting mostly of the Outer Limits and Girdner trails.
Conditions were mostly dry, although a few shaded areas were muddy from freezing at night and then thawing during the day.
Soon after starting from the Fay Canyon parking lot, I pulled over on the side of the trail to allow a hiker to pass through. As she walked by, she exclaimed, “I’ve never had a biker do that before! They usually expect us to get out of the way.”
“Oh no, that’s a shame,” I said.
Really, everyone? There are always nuances, but people on foot have the right of way, whether on the trails or pavement. Hopefully, I’m the first cyclist of many to shift her perspective.
At any rate, there weren’t many flow sections along my route, although like most trails in Sedona, it delivered some epic views. In general, you can expect frequent ups-and-downs, a fair share of rocky tech, and a variety of changing terrain and scenery.
